Yakeshia Jenkins named Global Campus Employee of the Quarter

Yakeshia Jenkins has been named a First Quarter Employee of the University of Arkansas Global Campus.

Jenkins, a web designer on the Global Campus marketing and communications team, was nominated for her outstanding work behind the scenes in improving the Global Campus website and addressing web design issues that affect the content and presentation of the website can affect.

“I was shocked to receive the award,” said Jenkins. “I consider myself a supporting actor. It’s nice to know that what I’m doing is really tangible, that people are seeing it. I feel really good. A nice early birthday present.”

Jenkins’ work primarily includes improving and maintaining Global Campus websites and addressing back-end software issues that filter, sort, hide, and display information, as well as developing dynamic landing pages that provide a bespoke user interface. She also assists with email marketing for professional and human resource development. Jenkins latest venture is to create an easy-to-use website that will allow online students and faculty to view the latest educational regulations and requirements for online learning in a particular state.

The colleagues who nominated Jenkins praised their work on projects that are outside their normal routine. This quarter, Jenkins stepped into the limelight by helping with a complete redesign of the Global Campus website, production of the Global Campus Diversity, Equity and Inclusion newsletter, and maintenance of the Global Diversity 365 website. Your efforts are an important contribution to Global Campus’s mission for equality and inclusion.

“Working with YaYa is pleasant in all situations,” said her colleagues. “I can’t remember a single case in which she was not open to suggestions or recommendations. She is just as open to constructive feedback for others. She is stable in everything she does, doesn’t get nervous or distracted, and she can easily change gears. ” when an assigned task requires it. She is a team player in every way and goes out of her way to support her colleagues and GC’s efforts. “

“YaYa is committed to creating the highest quality digital tools and environments,” said Leonard Ridley, manager of web design services for Global Campus and Jenkins’ supervisor. “YaYa’s technical knowledge and experience are critical to improving messaging, visual appeal and usability. I am delighted for YaYa to receive this well-deserved recognition.”

Cheryl Murphy, Vice Province of Distance Education and Director of Global Campus, named Jenkins a local employee at a staff meeting in October.

“We appreciate Yakeshia’s excellent service in supporting Global Campus’s positive and effective online presence,” said Murphy. “Her work and the joy with which she approaches every task shows our commitment to the academic goals and priorities of the university.”

Jenkins has worked part-time for various colleges on the U of A campus since graduating in 2013. She started as a part-time web designer at Global Campus in September 2019 and moved to a full-time position in March 2020, and received her Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from the U of A.

The Global Campus honors the neighborhood employee to recognize excellence and accomplishments related to the goals of the unit and the U of A mission. The winner receives a commemorative certificate and a cash prize. The four quarterly winners may then be named Global Campus Employee of the Year.

The Global Campus supports the academic universities and schools of the U of A in the development and provision of online degree programs and courses, online courses for self-study and personnel development programs. This unit provides instructional design services, learning technology support, media production services, and financial management, recruitment and marketing assistance.

The Global Campus also supports the WE Manning Memorial Scholarship, which is open to undergraduate and graduate students in online degree programs.
