Dramatic police footage captured the moment murder suspect Casey White was arrested in Indiana and the body of his lover, Vicky White, the prison guard, was pulled from her crashed vehicle.

A 10-day nationwide manhunt for Ms. White, a 56-year-old correctional officer from Alabama, and White, an inmate serving a 75-year sentence and awaiting trial for murder, ended Monday night in a chase and an accident in Evansville. Ms White died from what the coroner said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound and White was taken into custody.

When he was handcuffed, White allegedly urged officers to help his “wife” and insisted he not shoot her. The couple are said to have been in a romantic relationship for around two years, but police say they were not married.

Meanwhile, Ms White’s final words were revealed in a chilling 911 call, during which she said: “Let’s get out there and run” and accused White of wanting to “stay in a friggin’ motel” briefly before apparently getting her head around lap.

An investigation into the ordeal is still ongoing as police are faced with mounting questions about how the fugitives evaded capture for over a week.

Casey White’s hands popped out of the window just as the officer pulled the trigger

Several law enforcement officers who helped arrest Casey Cole White’s suspected murder Monday filed additional reports with the sheriff’s office, and in those files, they shed new light on Vicky White’s final moments, including when she shot herself and what White was doing back then.

In one report, Evansville Police Officer Sam Shahine describes how he helped pursue the couple’s Cadillac and saw it being rammed off the road by another officer.

Officer Shahine said he then pulled up to the scene and got out of his squad car with his gun drawn and pointed it at the windshield of the couple’s getaway car.

At that point, the officer said he “saw a male driver trying to put his hands out of the driver’s side window.”

According to the report, the officer issued several orders for the couple to show their hands, but due to the tint of the windows and the angle of the vehicle, he could not clearly see who was inside, the report said.

While giving verbal orders, the officer said he heard a gunshot from inside the vehicle.

An additional case report filed by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office reveals new details from the moment Casey White surrendered to authorities and was taken into custody, while Vicky White was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

In the report, Sgt. Erik Nilssen describes how he approached the scene Monday after hearing the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force requesting assistance.

“When male suspect Casey White was pulled from the vehicle, I handcuffed him. Mr. White had blood on his shirt and blood was coming out of the back of his head,” Sgt Nilssen wrote.

He then enlisted the help of a local firefighter to treat White’s head injury.

“During my interaction with Mr. White, he repeatedly inquired about the condition of Ms. Vicky White, whom he referred to as his ‘wife,'” Sgt. Nilssen wrote. “Mr White also kept saying he didn’t kill Connie Ridgeway.”

These comments were reportedly unsolicited, as Sergeant Nilssen wrote that he “didn’t ask him any formal questions”.

But the nationwide manhunt came to a dramatic end on Monday with a police chase, a car crash and Ms White allegedly shooting herself.
