June 15, 1935 – November 18, 2021
Hawkinsville, Georgia – Beloved husband, father, and grandfather Lewis Melburn Glover died peacefully at home on Thursday, November 18, 2021, aged 86. He was born on June 15, 1935 in Portland, TN, to the late Richard Louis and Ruby Pauline Walker Glover.
A 20-year USAF veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Lew also did 26 years of community service at Robins Air Force Base before retiring. He was skilled with his hands and a great handyman who could fix anything; he absolutely loved building homes for his family. Lew was also a successful musician who loved to “peck and grin” on the guitar and mandolin. He was blessed to have the opportunity to travel the world to perform on the mandolin that his brother had given him in 1954. Most importantly, Lew loved the Lord and saw his family grow up in the Church. His legacy of unconditional love will continue to bless future generations.
In addition to his parents, his daughter Carol Lewis preceded him in death.
Lew leaves behind his 65-year-old, loving wife, Norma Strader Glover; his children Sheryl Glover, Robert Glover, James Glover, Janet Brown, Kathy Swan, Richard Glover, and Melissa Sondron; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the McCullough Funeral Home. Immediately at 10:00 a.m., a memorial service for Lew follows in the chapel of the McCullough Funeral Home. He is buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery at noon that same day.
Instead of flowers, the family accepts fruit or nut trees that are planted in their gardens. Donations can also be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon, GA 31201, in Lew’s memory.
