Tribute to Jamie A. Cox, Sr.


Jamie A. Cox, Sr., 88, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, died on Monday July 18, 2022.

Jamie was born and raised in Pound, Virginia, where he has always been “home”. He moved to Northern Virginia where he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Janice. Jamie retired from Safeway and spent his retirement fishing, hunting and spending time with family. What he loved most was serving the Lord.

Survivors include his 65-year-old wife Janice (née Noakes); her three sons Jamie, Jr. (Karen), Robert (Regina) and Kevin (Eileen); six grandchildren Shane Cox, Nick Cox, Ashley Cox, Katina Martin (Chad), Minnie Barnes (Ricky) and Cory Taylor (Amber); seven great-grandchildren; siblings Lutty Mullins (Bill), Lardy Osborne and Gail Thompson (Bobby); and numerous nephews and nieces. He was loved by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Alfred Cox and Minnie Ann (née Edwards); brothers Avis Cox and Franklin Cox; and sisters Irene Wright, Willadean Ingram and Janice Grant.

A service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family receives friends in the chapel of the funeral home an hour before the service. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Memorial Park. The family will host a reception at Temple Baptist Church (300 White Oak Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405).

Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association can be made in lieu of flowers.
