Seasonal beach & leisure updates

By Madison Beach & Recreation Commission press release • 9/30/2021 4:00 PM EST

The Madison Beach & Recreation Commission thanks Madison residents for a pleasant and successful beach season. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, more than 7,000 seasonal parking passes and 1,500 day passes were purchased by Madison residents. In addition, we were able to welcome 750 vehicles with non-resident day tickets over the course of the season. Our beach car parks were rarely full and had to close, and in most cases the car parks could be reopened in a short amount of time.

The Commission would like to express its special thanks and appreciation to the entire team of city workers who have worked so hard to keep day-to-day operations running smoothly, including gatekeepers, lifeguards, beach attendants, office staff, construction and site staff and police.

Registration for autumn / winter programs is now possible at www.madisonct.org. Find the Beach and Leisure Department under City Offices, then look for the Online Registration button. The Town Campus Gym will reopen shortly; Dates and further information can be found on the website.

The Beach & Recreation Commission thanks former Director Scot Erskine for 42 years of service and wishes him all the best in his retirement. Our condolences also go to the family of Linda LaSance, who lost their courageous battle with cancer last spring.

A link to the Beach & Recreation Commission’s online survey can also be found on the Beach & Recreation Department’s website at www.madisonct.org from Monday, October 4th. The survey ends on Friday, November 12th. Take a few minutes to give the committee and the department your opinion on programs, facilities and customer service. This information will help the Commission to better serve the public in the future.
