Roger Dale Smith, 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Longs, SC on Monday July 11, 2022. A native of Reidsville, he was born on February 18, 1949 to the late Thomas Woodrow Smith and Katie Elizabeth Cobb Fargis and was the husband of Rosa Lpizzo Smith of the home for 49 years.
Roger retired as a sales consultant from Southeastern Paper Group at Brown Summit in 2015. He enjoyed golf, fishing, sporting events and traveling cross country. He also enjoyed flipping and trading cars, finding flea markets, discovering metal and had a gift for storytelling. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and his dog “KoKo”. Roger was a genuine, genuine, big-hearted person who never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife Rosa; sons, Chris Smith (Leah), Dale Smith and Zane Smith (Michele); daughter, Shannon Smith; grandchildren, Madelaine, Tabitha, Morgan, Campbell and Cooper Smith and Devon Holland; Brothers, Bobby Smith (Yvonne), David Smith (Colleen) and James Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Steve Smith and Tom Smith.
A service in celebration of Roger’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ben Bishop, followed by the burial at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family receives friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 a.m. before the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be placed at Little Pink Houses of Hope, 2442 Tribek Ct, Burlington, NC 27215.
