Release date: June 17, 2021

The jury failed to pass a verdict after Abdelllkader Heni – charged with manslaughter of Ammar Terbeche – appeared in Minshull Street Crown Court on Wednesday June 16.

Ammar, 32, originally from Algeria, died after being hit by a car following an attack on Packer Street last September.

Abdelllkader Heni, 28, was charged with manslaughter in October 2020.

After deliberations on Wednesday (June 16), however, the jury informed the court that no judgment had yet been given.

A retrial will therefore take place on December 7th.

Ammar, a volunteer at the Castlemere Community Center, was attacked in the early hours of September 20, 2020 after talking to three men who were leaving the crime scene for the Rochdale Memorial Gardens.

Ammar was left on the street in the parking lot next to Rochdale Town Hall and was hit by a passing vehicle whose driver stopped at the scene.
