Patricia Ann (Bordewieck) Simmonds – The Lincoln County News

Patricia Ann (Bordewieck) Simmonds, 64, of Round Pond, died peacefully on April 10, 2022 surrounded by her family after a long and tough battle with lung cancer. Patty was born on February 1, 1958 in Newton, Mass., the fifth of six children to Walter and Peggy Bordewieck. She spent her childhood in Wellesley, Mass., and Cape Cod.

Patty is survived by her husband, Parker Simmonds of Round Pond (formerly Waldoboro); her daughter Jacquelyn Simmonds of Waldoboro; her son Brian Simmonds and his fiancee Claire Humble from Waldoboro. She is also survived by her sister Paula Manseau of Barkhamsted, Conn.; her sister Barbara Wolcott of Rhinebeck, NY; her sister Susan DeLuca of Westwood, Massachusetts; her brother Kenneth Bordewieck of Bernardston, Massachusetts; her sister Laura Rippy of Sudbury, Massachusetts, and their spouses. Patty was the beloved “Aunt Patty” to 16 nieces and nephews and 21 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Patty met Parker Simmonds when she was 17 and married him when she was 23. Their 47-year journey together has included raising a family, growing vegetables at their home on Dutch Neck in Waldoboro, lots of concerts, and too many camping trips to count. Patty loved swimming in Peters Pond and catching fish off the Maine coast.

Professionally, Patty spent 35 years as a financial advisor and manager at Miles Memorial Hospital (now LincolnHealth) in Damariscotta. Broad Bay Congregational Church was their spiritual home. Patty was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and active volunteer. She was devoted to her family and attended all of her children’s concerts and sporting events as they grew.

We will miss Patty’s kindness and generosity. So are her blonde brownies, plentiful cakes, delicious fish soup and creative birthday cakes. She was an avid reader, a strong swimmer, and always up for a happy visit.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Broad Bay Congregational Church, 941 Main St., Waldoboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215 or Broad Bay Congregational Church, PO Box 161, Waldoboro, ME 04572 on their behalf.

Hall’s of Waldoboro will take care of the arrangements. To offer her condolences online, visit her memory book at hallfuneralhomes.com.
