Cape Point and Frisco campgrounds opened for the April 2nd season. Reservations and payments for campgrounds in Oregon Inlet, Cape Point, Frisco and Ocracoke must be made online at recovery.gov.
Bodie Island Lighthouse is open for climbing from Wednesday April 27th until early fall. Tickets are required to climb the Bodie Island Lighthouse. You can find a link to the reservation page below nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/lighthouseclimbs.
A limited climbing season at Cape Hatteras Lighthouse may be available this summer, but potential dates have not yet been determined. A pause in restoration work may allow for a limited climbing season.
Educational programs at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and the Wright Brothers National Memorial begin Sunday, April 24. Check the park websites for more information.
The Cape Hatteras National Seashore Resource Management Field Summary website will be updated weekly on Thursdays until the close of shorebird and sea turtle nesting seasons. On April 7, the field summary showed an American oystercatcher nest on the south end of Ocracoke Island.
