November 14, 2021

Marlene Kay LaVigne, 68 years old, formerly from Edgerton and Mankato, currently from Moose Lake, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, November 14th, 2021, surrounded by the love and care of her husband, two sons; and St. Croix Hospice.
She was born on June 6, 1953 in Edgerton, MN to Richard and Anna Jean Beckering. Marlene grew up in the Edgerton area and graduated from high school in 1971. When she was young, she loved cycling and spent time with her siblings. Then she moved to Mankato, where she met her lifelong partner, Michael LaVigne. They married on April 27, 1979 and raised two sons together: Jonathan and Christopher. Marlene was the most caring and loving mother. She worked in retail for Shopko and then worked for HyVee grocery stores for 25 years. Marlene had a strong work ethic and loved her job, but most of all, she loved the countless clients she met. She and Mike shared a passion for camping and exploring many, many campsites in southern Minnesota. Marlene’s hobbies were drawing, reading books, indulging in her favorite TV shows, and sitting around the campfire. She was an independent woman who could be called shy, but she was so strong all her life. We will miss Marlene very much.
Her parents Richard and Anna Jean preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband Mike; Sons, Christopher LaVigne and Jonathan (Katy) LaVigne; a very special granddaughter, Gwendolyn; Siblings, Marilyn, Leland, Donna and Barb; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and valued friends.
At Marlene’s request, there will be no public commemoration. To leave your condolences or reminder online, go to
