Louise Rogers Obituary (1930 – 2022) – Houston, TX

Louise Rogers
Louise Rogers left Tuesday, January 25, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease to be home with the Lord surrounded by her family. She was 91 years old.
She was born Louise Jenelle Rollins on August 19, 1930 in Corpus Christi to the late Jennie and Eli Rollins Sr. She was the fifth of six children in her family and grew up in Portland, Texas, in a house on a cliff overlooking Corpus Christi Bay. She graduated from Taft High School. On April 2, 1949, she married William “Dub” T. Rogers Jr. at Corpus Christi.
After starting their family in Corpus Christi, Louise and Dub moved to Houston in 1963. Louise preceded Dub in death in 1998. Additionally, Louise was preceded in death by her four brothers Eli, Truette, Travis, Lonnie, and her only sister. Gloria Davey. Louise is survived by her children, Gary Rogers and wife Diane, Randy Rogers and wife Robin, Karen Eisa and husband Said. She leaves behind eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Louise was a remarkable person who constantly gave herself. From PTA to Den Mother she has always stayed active. Later in life she taught Sunday school, volunteered as a church employee, organized transportation for disabled residents, and housed various out-of-town patients treated at MD Anderson Hospital.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Many thanks to Louise’s supervisor Shameka Dubose and the Sorella Senior Excellence team of supervisors. Thank you also to Sheena Stubbers, MD for the excellent medical care over the years.
A memorial service is scheduled to be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 1 at Willow Meadows Baptist Church, 4300 West Bellfort Avenue in Houston, and will be conducted by Pastor Craig Taylor. (Those unable to attend can watch the live stream, the link to which can be accessed by visiting their online memorial service GeoHLewis.comand select the Join Live Stream icon in the service information block.)
