Martha “Louise” Davis, 93, from Denmark, IA, died on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 2:06 p.m. at the Klein Center in West Burlington, IA. She was born on May 23, 1928 in Burlington, IA to Edward & Carmen Rice. She married Wayne Eugene Davis on October 20, 1956 in Oquawka, IL. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2003. She was a farmer with her husband all her life. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Denmark and also served as a deacon. She loved playing cards, bingo, traveling and going to the casino.
Louise leaves: 2 daughters: Cheryl Huffman from Cape Girardeau, MO & Karen Wixom from Burlington, IA; 1-son: Douglas (Tracey) Davis from West Point, IA; 1 daughter-in-law: Susan Davis of Fort Madison, IA; 1 son-in-law: Richard Nelson of Fort Madison, IA; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and 1 brother: Ronald (Janey) Rice from New London, IA. She was preceded in death: her parents, husband, 1-daughter: Kathy Nelson, 1-son: Michael Davis, 1-son-in-law: Roy Huffman and 1-granddaughter: Danielle Davis.
A visitation will take place at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Denmark on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The funeral service will follow immediately at 10:30 am with Rev. Chad Savage. The burial takes place in the Danish cemetery. A memorial was erected for the Jolly 20 Circle of the Danish Church.
