SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The Shepherdsville Fraternity of Police is organizing a weekend procession and memorial service for fallen K-9 Officer Dash.
The procession begins at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, where K-9 Dash will receive a police escort beginning at Conestoga Parkway and ending at Paroquet Springs Conference Center. According to a post on Facebook.
The public is invited to line the sides of Conestoga Parkway, Adam Shepherd Parkway and North Joe B. Hall to show their support and say a final goodbye to K-9 Officer Dash.
“The Shepherdsville Police Department and Shepherdsville Police Department FOP Lodge #80 would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has reached out over the past few days,” the post reads. “Your kind words, letters, flowers, donations, love and support and general generosity are greatly appreciated and have not gone unnoticed by the department. It was really amazing to see the community coming together but also sad given the circumstances.”
More updates on the procession are expected in the coming days.
Dash was shot dead on March 9th in a chase involving an alleged robbery in Lebanon Junction. Officers from the Shepherdsville Police Department, the Kentucky State Police Department and the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident. No other officers were injured and the suspect was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The community of Shepherdsville has supported the local police department including a generous donation to Shepherdsville PD on Tuesday to fund their K-9 program.
