John Klemunes, 78, of Hunlock Creek, died on Saturday June 12, 2021, at home surrounded by loving family and friends.
He was born in Kingston on November 26, 1942 and was the son of the late John and Anna Gaydosh Klemunes.
After high school, John served in the Army for three years and retired from the Tobyhanna Army Depot after more than 30 years of employment.
He loved the outdoors, whether he was working in the yard or sitting in his chair on his patio. He was a country boy at heart. Despite being a man of few words, he was always a good listener and offered insight at the right time, whatever the topic, from finance to growing the best tomatoes. He was a project manager for household and automotive projects, extremely handy with a knack for fixing everything, and the pack mule on family vacations.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Stephen.
John is survived by his wife, former Patricia Vikara; sons, John and Paul Klemunes; grandchildren, John Patrick, Jack and Max; and siblings, Ray, Julie Ann, Theresa, Marie, Anna, Joe, Cathy and Tony.
A Christian Burial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, State Road 29 2011, Hunlock Creek, with Rev. James Nash as officiant. Visits will take place from 10 a.m. to the hour of service.
Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lake Twp.
Arrangements are from Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., at the corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
