Joan Marilyn Chase

KENOSHA – Joan Marilyn Chase, 86, of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2021.
She was born on July 3, 1935 in Kenosha to the late Carl and Esther (Burt) Jonson. She attended local schools and graduated from Bradford High School in 1953. In 1976 she graduated from Gateway Technical College.
On September 8, 1955, she married Robert K. Chase. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2005.
Joan was a medical assistant in a doctor’s office for many years. She was very active in AAMA. She was later employed as a cashier at the Southern Lakes Credit Union.
She was a member of the Kenosha Kennel Club for many years and held various offices. Joan raised many dogs, some of which were trained therapy dogs. She trained her Shelties in agility and obedience. Joan was a former member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. She was a talented painter and interior designer. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Joan leaves behind her four children: David Chase of Pleasant Prairie, WI, John (Sandi) Chase of Kenosha, WI, Laura (Joe) Kovacevich of Holmen, WI, and Paul (Laura) Chase of Racine, WI; ten grandchildren: Brittany, Adam, Michael, Sarah, Robert, Hannah, Nikki, Alex, Nathaniel, and Elizabeth; a great-granddaughter Mira; and her beloved dog Pappy.
Her sister Betty Jonson and her brother Robert Jonson also preceded her in death.
The funeral will take place on Monday, November 29, 2021 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 5900 7th Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53140 at 12:00 PM. The burial in St. James Cemetery follows. On Monday there will be a visitation in the church from 11:00 a.m. until the service. Per Joan’s wish, memorials for the forgotten friends of Kenosha would be cherished instead of flowers.
