Funeral service announced for 6-year-old killed in moving car shooting

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – The celebration of life for the 6-year-old who was killed in a drive-by shooting on Friday May 13 is set for this weekend.

Winston Hunter was identified by the Orangeburg County Coroner as a victim of the incident.

Hunter’s Public Viewing will be held on Friday, May 20 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the WB Crumel Funeral Home, located at 902 Webster Street in North.

His Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday 21 May at 1pm in Swansea at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

The 6-year-old was a student at Dover Elementary School in Orangeburg.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear student Winston Hunter,” a statement read on the Dover Elementary Eaglets Facebook page.

The school then asked the community to keep the Hunter family, teachers and friends in their thoughts and prayers during this time.
