LAKE CITY, SC (WMBF) – Plans have been announced for those looking to celebrate and honor the life of a fallen Lake City police lieutenant.
Lt. John Stewart was killed on Friday during a car chase that ended along North Matthews Road.
Florence District Councilor Jason Springs revealed Thursday and Friday plans on Thursday and Friday to celebrate Stewart and all he has done for the community in a social media post.

On Thursday, Stewart will be at rest at Pentecostal Holiness Church on 608 South Ron McNair Boulevard from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to come and pay their respects.
There will also be a city-wide prayer vigil on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Dr. Ronald E. McNair Memorial Park on East Main Street.
The memorial service for Stewart begins Friday at 11 a.m. at the Florence Center on 3300 West Radio Drive. The seating for the church service takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Stewart’s final resting place will be the Florence National Cemetery.
The procession to the cemetery takes place immediately after the funeral service.
