World War II veteran Freddie Feigner died at the age of 97 on May 9, 2022 at his home in Portland, Oregon. His memorial service at the grave will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Milton-Freewater IOOF Cemetery. The service is open to family and friends. After the service, lunch will be served at Milton-Freewater First Christian Church.
Freddie was born on December 30, 1924 at his parents’ home in Fruitvale, Freewater. He was the fourth child of Frederich Feigner and Rachel Buchmiller Feigner, German immigrants, born in Atmagea, Romania and Hermansberg, Russia. Freddie attended Fruitvale Elementary School and McLoughlin Union High School until his junior year when he was drafted into the United States Army and accepted active duty on September 11, 1943 to join the ranks for World War II. He was released on December 26, 1945.
Freddie was survived by his loving wife Gisela, who died shortly thereafter. He will be missed by his two sons, Rick and Mark, both from Portland, and daughter-in-law Pam Feigner from Redmond, Oregon; cherished grandchildren, Jeremie (Christine) Feigner, Nicholas Feigner, Justin (Meri) Vetanen, Rachael (Caleb) Saulo, Emily Feigner, Eric Feigner, Matthew (Jessica) Feigner, and Cerelia Feigner (Tyler Blankenburg); great-grandchildren Luke Feigner, Moses Saulo, Jewell Saulo, Isaiah Saulo, Haylee Noye, Adia Feigner, Audrina Feigner, Cyra Feigner and Jace Feigner; and esteemed sister Betty Lou Coe of Milton-Freewater. He leaves behind 14 nieces and nephews, 29 great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great-niece and two great-great-nephews. Freddie was preceded in death by his mother and father (Fred and Rachel), brother Donald Feigner and sisters Violet Libby, Lillian Shelley Cox and Rosalie Koon, and his beloved son Karl Feigner, a Vietnam veteran.
