Former Vista College students for help

Another medical college has closed in El Paso, so students who have paid for their tuition and are working hard on their education are looking for a way to quit school. On Wednesday some good news was announced for El Paso students whose education stalled almost a week ago due to the sudden shutdown of Vista College, but it only affects students in El Paso.

Western Technical College and PIMA Medical Institute in El Paso announced that they will be accepting students who have attended Vista College. PIMA Medical said they will go a step further and will not be charging ex-Vista College students for what they have already paid to Vista College. At a fully conscious moment, PIMA officials said they didn’t want to add any more debt to ex-Vista students by charging them for the courses they’ve already paid for. This is such a great move by PIMA because they might as well have billed for the courses they are now offering for free to ex-Vista students. PIMA also accepts 75% of Vista College alumni credits.

PIMA’s amazing offering is only available to students in El Paso, which leaves ex-Vista College students outside of El Paso for saying the commute is too long. This means that for these students, their education will be put on hold until they can figure out how to get on with their education.

A local television station asked Doña Ana Community College if they would be willing to make a similar offer to former Vista College students in Las Cruces. DACC said they are working with the New Mexico Board of Nursing to obtain temporary approval for a Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate.

Former Vista College students are struggling to get their official Vista College credentials, but Western Tech and PIMA Medical are accepting unofficial credentials, which makes things a little easier for former Vista college students.
