Darvin L. Landa, 87, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Darvin was born on August 23, 1935 in Werner, ND to Thor and Olga (Melhus) Landa. He grew up in Hawley and Hitterdal, MN, where he attended a rural country school. At the age of 18, Darvin enlisted in the US Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1956. Darvin married Arlene Hanson on August 10, 1957, and together they settled in Dilworth, MN. Over the years Darwin has been very active in the community. He served on the Dilworth Fire Service, served on the town council and was a member of the school board. He enjoyed going to his lakeside home on Big Cormorant Lake, coached youth baseball, and was a member of the Dilworth Lutheran Church. Darvin also enjoyed his career at NSP (Xcel Energy) until his retirement. They later moved to Moorhead where Darvin served as Moorhead Public Service Commissioner and was a member of the Charter Committee.
Darvin loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed nature, hunting, playing cards and politics. He will be remembered for the way he treated others and the love he had for his family.
Darvin is survived by his wife Arlene; son, Greg; daughters-in-law, Pam Landa and Mary Jo Dahl; grandsons, Chelsey (Adam) Sperle, Walker Landa (Alexandra Holmes); great-grandchildren, Piper Sperle and Georgia Landa; Brother Douglas; as well as nieces and nephews.
His son Todd preceded him in death; and siblings, Roy, Alice and Arnold.
The visit will take place on Thursday, September 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth, MN.
Burial will be at Fargo National Cemetery in Harwood, ND.
