Daniel C “Dan” Ginter, 70, from Altoona, died early Monday morning at his home with his loving wife Karyl by his side after a prolonged illness. He was born in Altoona to the late Maillard C. “Left” and Ruth Evelyn (Mock) Ginter.

He married Karyl L. Stevens on June 22, 1985 at Second Avenue United Methodist Church in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife Karyl; a sister, Nancy J. Ferrier (Bob) of Greensburg; nephews and niece, Justin Ferrier, Lori Ferrier, Gregory Ferrier, Derek Ferrier (Stacy); and grandniece, Felicity, all of Greensburg.

Mr. Ginter was a very active member of the First Church of the Brethren, Altoona, where he served as deacon, trustee and treasurer. He sang in the choir and acted as music director.

Dan graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1969.

He was employed by the Daniel R. Myers Funeral Home and later by Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc. as a mortician for many, many years.

Dan was a longtime member and treasurer of the Altoona Men’s Choir and President of the United Singers Federation of Pennsylvania. He sang in the Hollidaysburg Community Chorus, where he served as treasurer. Dan was a member and treasurer of the Altoona Curve Booster Club. He was also a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, the Heidelberg Country Club, the Lakemont Lions Club, and the Thursday Night Men’s Bowling League.

He was an avid football fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Friends will be welcomed Friday, September 16, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Altoona First Church of the Brethren, 510 Fifth St., Altoona for a 1:00 p.m. funeral service with Pastor Gary Koontz will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making memorial donations to the Altoona First Church of the Brethren, 510 Fifth St., Altoona, PA 16602.

Arrangements are by Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
