Wappingers Falls – Charles Knapp, a longtime resident of Wappingers Falls, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on April 14, 2022. He was 73 years old.

Charles was born on March 29, 1949 in Rochester, NY to Clement and Mary (Enright) Knapp. Charles worked for the NYS Bridge Authority throughout his career, retiring to work on the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.

He was a loving, caring and kind father and grandfather and a generous friend to many. He loved animals and regularly donated to local animal shelters. Charles was a hard worker with a great sense of humor who enjoyed working on cars and classic rock music.

Charles is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Jennifer Memon and her husband Khalid; son Justin and his partner Kathryn Demers; and his grandsons Connor and Jack Memon.

Office hours are Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McHoul Funeral Home Inc. 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial afterwards at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538, the Wounded Warriors Project, or the American Cancer Society.
