Busch Funeral and Crematory Services acquires the Schuster-Straker-O’Connor Funeral Home, a staple in the community of Parma

The ancient funeral home is deeply rooted in the parish of Parma and is centrally located opposite the Church of Saint Charles Borromeo.

PARMA, OH, UNITED STATES 19 August 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — Busch Funeral and Crematory Services, a fourth generation family owned and operated funeral home, is pleased to welcome the Schuster-Straker-O’Connor Funeral Home at 5904 Ridge Rd. to its existing presence in Northeast Ohio. The acquisition, which closed on August 17, 2022, gave Busch full ownership of the brick and mortar site, rounding out its eighth centrally located funeral home in northeast Ohio.

Schuster-Straker-O’Connor was born in 1932 at Denison Ave. Founded in Cleveland and expanded to its current location in 1953 and established as Parma’s oldest funeral home. President Pat O’Connor has worked over the years to expand the home to an 11,000-square-foot facility with a 110-person dining room. Located in central Parma, the Schuster-Straker-O’Connor graciously serves Parma’s Catholic community thanks to its proximity to the Church of Saint Charles Borromeo.

“We wanted security and to make sure the families we serve are well taken care of, and Busch is the perfect successor,” said O’Connor. “They know our community and do great work for families.”

O’Connor is known throughout the Parma community for his dedication and volunteer work. A sampling of his accomplishments includes: past president of Saint Charles Parish Council, the Rotary Club of Parma, and the Embalmers Association of Cleveland; former Vice-President of the Parma Historical Society; Chairman of Saint Charles Borromeo Church and Stearns Homestead Cabin on 75th Anniversary; Cuyahoga Funeral Directors Association Board Member; and member of the Parma Elks, Saint Charles Futuring Committee and Padua Futuring Committee. He and his wife Kathi want to stay in Parma and remain active in the local parish. The family looks forward to catching up on some well-deserved travel and relaxation after a long, loyal career.

“I am delighted that Pat and Kathi have chosen Busch to continue their company’s legacy,” said Jim Busch, owner and president of Busch Funeral and Crematory Services. “I have always admired Pat and his dedication to the funeral service and the community of Parma. Bob Solich, our long-time manager of our existing location in Parma, will oversee operations.”

Schuster-Straker-O’Connor joins Busch’s footprint in northeast Ohio existing locations in Avon, Avon Lake, Cleveland, Elyria, Fairview Park / Rocky River, North Royalton and Parma. The new location is conveniently located between the Cleveland locations (4334 Pearl Rd.) and existing locations in Parma (7501 Ridge Rd.). Busch is entirely family owned and operated and offers burial, cremation and pre-planning services. Busch’s seven existing locations will be outfitted with modern amenities and the company prides itself on providing personalized, genuine care to each family it serves.
