US Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) says he is urging trying to get Binghamton University over the line in a contest for federal economic development funding.
BU’s New Energy New York proposal for the EDA Regional Challenge has been named to the list of 60 eligible participants in the competition.

Schumer was on the Vestal campus April 18 to show his support for plans to manufacture lithium-ion batteries using technology invented by Nobel laureate Binghamton University professor Doctor Stanley Whittingham and the manufacturing facilities of the Battery Gigafactory Imperium 3 New York being developed on the Huron campus in Endicott.
